Say the words French toast and people’s eyes light up. I have yet to meet anyone that does not love this warm, comforting and sweet breakfast food.

I have been making this French toast recipe for almost 15 years now and have brought it to many a brunch. Most people are familiar with mulled cider, but many people have never heard of mulled wine.

As the name suggests, mulled wine, also known as spiced wine, is very similar to mulled cider, except the main ingredient is red wine instead of apple cider.

I LOVE pecan pie, but I stopped eating it for 30 years. Why, you ask?

Funny story.

Well, not funny at the time, but funny now that I look back with my 50-year-old brain.

You see, when I was 15, I was dating a boy. He was my first serious boyfriend and we were inseparable. He and I shared a lot of common interests and one of them was food.

I think this recipe — or a variation of it — has been around forever. But, I was just introduced to it two years ago.

I am guessing it has been a staple at many a Thanksgiving table because once I tried it, I had to tell everyone about it. But, as soon as I did, half the people said, “Really, I’ve been making that for years!”
